Reflection questions - 2025
Take sacred time to learn from and say byebye to 2025
Reflecting is a powerful practice. Well… as long as it is done honestly. It is also a big part of yoga. The 4th niyama is called svādhyāya and translates roughly as self-study. This refers to reading and studying ancient texts and reflecting on them but also reflecting on our own truths and actions. Do your actions mirror your truth, morals, and ethics?
Looking back at 2025 can help you find patterns in your life you might want to change or want to keep. Reflecting asks you to look at the special moments, good - bad - and ugly. It leans into gratitude and makes you realise if you are holding on to anything that doesn’t serve you anymore.
Letting go doesn’t mean it is gone forever. It means the influence something has over you dissipates. For example, memories can bring up feelings and letting go of them doesn’t mean to release a memory never to return. It means the feelings you associate with it become less powerful. Unless you want to lean into the feelings it brings of course.
Everyone has their own way of reflecting. Some like to make a cuppa and journal, others like to go for a walk in nature, others light a candle, draw a circle, create a ritual, or sit with eyes closed. There is no right or wrong, find your sacred reflection practice. Make time for it, create space.
Let’s say goodbye to 2025. 2+2+5=9 questions.
Reflections
Think back to the start of 2025. Did you make any resolutions, set goals, or did you lean into rest as nature encourages us to do? Maybe a mix? Was it helpful? What lesson will you take from that into 2026?
2025. What comes up when you say 2025 out loud? Notice how your body, mind, and feelings respond. 2025. Are you ready to welcome in the new year or does anything need attention?
Take a deep breath. What were the toughest moments of 2025? Sometimes it takes time for the hard edges to soften or maybe you find yourself in one of the tougest moment right now. Think about how you faced those moments and imagine you stand before your past Self. What would you lovingly say? Allow emotion to flow, whatever comes up. Finish with a few deep breaths or put on music and shake it out.
The world has seen (and is in) a lot of turmoil caused by humans. What ethical actions did you take for your life and for the good of all? If nothing comes to mind, what will you commit to in 2026? We are all connected, we all carry that divine spark within. Small conscious actions make a difference too.
How has your self-care been in 2025? Are you happy with your commitment to Self or do you need to make changes? Commit as you are the star of your life.
When did your pure essence shine brightest? How did that sacred feeling feel? Remember it is always bright, just sometimes a little more on the dim side but always bright.
Do you like the person you were in 2025? Who do you want to be and which aspects will your nurture to be true to your Self?
What is coming with you from 2025 into 2026? Does it excite you? If not, can you transform anything about it so it is exciting? Perspective.
Let’s end on a high with gratitude. Take time to remember what you are grateful for in 2025. Don’t just list things off. Go into depth and feel gratitude. Bring a smile to your face. Think about friends, family, work, nature, people in the world, music, ethical organisations and products, books, new connections, old connections, your time outside work, life lessons, small habits, big moments, hobbies, community, food, events you attended, self-care, sacred moments, moments of laughter and love, and of course YOU. Body, mind, and spirit. There is so much to be grateful for!
Thank you
Thank you for joining me here on Substack, for reading, for your support, for your likes and comments. For your presence in 2025 and I hope to meet you again here, in 2026. It has been and is a tricky time for small businesses like mine and I cannot tell you enough how much it means to see you standing with me and cheering me on. I am truly grateful for you. Thank you.
Letting go is a celebration too. When the clock hits 23.57 on the 31st of December, send a smile to 2025, take a sip of your tasty drink, and say thank you before welcoming 2026 with enthusiasm.
Blessed be!
